Welcome to Carolina Timberworks, where craftsmanship meets innovation. We take pride in our commitment to quality, sustainability, and timeless design. We’ve designed, fabricated, and installed more than 350 of these in the past two decades.
But we’re more than that, as we seek out the interesting projects, the challenging job sites, and embrace the intricate designs that require the best of our Team’s abilities. We don’t just build structures, we build cool stuff that can stand the test of time.
And we have a long history of embracing cutting-edge technologies. For example, our production facility is powered by the sun, we use electric vehicles whenever possible, and we use CNC equipment to ensure precision and the best quality product. We even use professional drones to capture the magic of the installation, and preserve our experience of each build.

We built our own workspace in North Carolina — a “Cathedral to Timber Framing” with soaring ceilings, lots of natural light, and produce our electric power from the PV panels on the roof.
We draw with cadwork, cut both by hand and with our CNC equipment (Hundegger), use mafell and FESTOOL tools, and regularly replace our vehicles so that they’re reliable, safe, and comfortable for you.
We invest in our employees’ education, pay 1/2 their health insurance, contribute to their retirement, pay bonuses for strong work, provide paid time off, and company-logo clothing. We pay for training and also for membership for each team member in the Timber Framers Guild.
We’ve been consistently profitable for years, and our North Carolina-based business continues to grow. So we’re always on the lookout for potential team members who share our passion for craftsmanship and innovation, and want to collaborate and work together on a team.
You can meet a few of the amazing humans already on our team here.
Why Here
Our production facility is in West Jefferson, North Carolina, pretty much the center of Ashe County and just 22 miles from Boone, NC — one of Outdoor Magazine’s top ten places to live in the US.
Nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, this area holds the perfect blend of natural beauty and small-town charm. The cost of living and real estate is lower than any metropolitan area.
You’ll find yourself surrounded by tranquil forests and rolling farmland, winding rivers, and timeless mountains. Whether you enjoy hiking, biking, hunting, fishing, or simply taking in the scenery, this area offers a unique quality of life.
Ashe County is more than just a location: it’s a community. Here, neighbors greet each other with a smile and a wave, and from local festivals to farmers’ markets, there’s always something happening in Ashe County to bring people together.
We’ve pulled together a few tidbits on some of the best this area has to offer right here.
Say goodbye to long commutes and hello to more time spent with family and friends. With a growing arts scene, outdoor recreation opportunities, and a laid-back atmosphere. And if you do crave a taste of city life, major hubs such as Charlotte, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem are a short drive away (1.5-2 hours).
